Galgorm Castle is one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in Ireland. In May 1607, King James I granted the Ballymena Estate to Rory Og MacQuillan, a mighty warrior, famous for stating “No Captain of this race ever died in his bed,” (which thankfully means Galgorm has one less ghost.). His Castle overlooks and dominates the tenth green and a network of souterrains at the fifth and eighth greens.
